If you’re hosting me for a talk, here is my preferred profile image, and below is my speaker bio:
Jade Abbott is Co-founder & CTO of Lelapa AI, where she builds resource-efficient language AI for the real world — under the constraints that actually matter: limited compute, fragmented data, and diverse linguistic contexts. She holds an MSc in Computer Science from the University of Pretoria and brings over a decade of experience deploying ML systems to production across banking, NGOs, and startups. In 2017, she co-founded Masakhane, the grassroots open research movement for NLP for African languages. She was named one of MIT Technology Review’s 35 Innovators Under 35 in 2024.
